Mohamad received the Master of Science in Computer Hardware Architecture. In Dr. Bikson's lab, he is focused on design and development of lab equipment such as current controlled stimulators and electroporator for human and animal studies.

Nigel Gebodh

Nigel works on understanding the brain and physiology under different types of stimulation. His work uses multimodal approaches and techniques like EEG, computational modeling, and machine learning toward the development of improved wearable devices.

Administrative Staff

 

Brian Aguilar Avila

As the Administrative Specialist of the Neural Engineering lab, Brian interprets general CUNY policies and administrative regulations; prepares and manages our research budgets, contracts, IRB and IACUC protocols, and is in charge of personnel and payroll matters, procurement, reimbursements, and event organizing. Moreover, he assists the Department of Biomedical Engineering in providing administrative support to its Doctoral Program.

Vividha BHASKAR

Vividha is a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering at CCNY under The Macaulay Honors College. She is interested in the treatment of neuropathic pain and is researching spinal cord stimulation – evoked oscillations to better understand the mechanisms of pain.

Adrian Tomby

I completed my first BA in Dance and decided to get a second in BME at City College, I had the luck of having Dr. Bikson as my advisor which is how I originally became familiar with the lab. My longterm research interests are regarding the neurology of perception (mostly proprioception and interoception ).

I am currently working in the lab with Mohamad mostly working on CAD design. My fields of interest are biomechanics and bioelectronics.

I am an Electrical Engineering student at CCNY. This is my first exposure to Biomedical Engineering. Some of my other research interests are Robotics, Control systems, Machine Learning. I want to grow as an Electrical and Computer engineer in the domain of Research, Design and Development.

Zeinab Esmaeilpour (GRaduated 2022)

My research involves two main themes: noninvasive sensing and neuromodulation. Particularly, I work in the intersection of biomedical instrumentation, signal processing, and machine learning with a focus on enhancing cognitive performance. I have developed noninvasive tools and signal processing algorithms to test novel brain stimulation methods in the DC and high-frequency range. I worked on both engineering and clinical aspects by performing noninvasive sensing and algorithm development, machine learning/data analytics, study design, and data collection from human subjects and rodents. Application areas are novel therapeutics.

Niranjan Khadka (Graduated 2020)

Research Areas and Expertise: Investigate the effects of low-intensity invasive/non-invasive E-fields on human brain and spinal cord, develop novel mechanism of action of the stimulation therapy, and apply this knowledge towards medical device design.

Edson is a Doctoral candidate in Physical Education at the Associated Graduate Program in Physical Education at the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil, who has a received a Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Award to study advanced tDCS techniques (the effects of tDCS on blood pressure and heart rate variability) at CCNY. He has experience in the areas of neuromodulation, osteopathy, orthopedics and traumatology.
